SHOPPERS STOP

Mumbai, INDIA

Shoppers Stop, one of India’s leading department store chains, is reimagined through the concept of House of Houses, where each department becomes a distinct environment with its own identity and atmosphere. This approach breaks down the scale of the store, creating a more human, intuitive and engaging customer journey.

Curated touchpoints and experiential zones encourage exploration and interaction, bringing together architecture, technology and storytelling to shape a more personal and contemporary retail experience.

Shoppers Stop is one of India’s leading department store chains, with more than three decades of retail experience and a strong presence across the country. Located in Inorbit Mall Malad, Mumbai, the project reinterprets the traditional department store through the concept of House of Houses, where each department is conceived as a distinct environment with its own identity, atmosphere and architectural character.

A contemporary neutral palette provides a flexible architectural framework, enriched through colour, materiality and bespoke design elements that create a sequence of differentiated experiences.

By breaking down the scale of the department store into a collection of individual “houses”, the project establishes a more human, intuitive and engaging journey, where every department tells its own story while remaining part of a coherent whole.

Interaction plays a central role throughout the project. Carefully curated touchpoints, interactive installations and experiential environments encourage exploration, discovery and longer visits.

Developed by Landete+Ramos together with Berkshire Design, the result is a contemporary retail concept where architecture, technology and storytelling work together to redefine the relationship between brand, customer and space.
