FUNQUEST
Riyadh, SAUDI ARABIAFunQuest is conceived as an immersive playground destination where play, movement and interaction shape the customer journey. Structured around the concept of “Adventure Island”, the project unfolds through a series of distinct yet interconnected worlds, with the Forest acting as its social and operational heart.
Here, architecture creates atmosphere through light, materiality and proportion. Clear geometries and a restrained material palette define an environment that is intuitive, adaptable and engaging — designed to be enjoyed by children and families alike.
Our client operates an established network of family entertainment centres across the UAE. For their expansion into Saudi Arabia, the ambition was to redefine the concept under a new identity — FunQuest — creating an immersive destination where play, movement and interaction shape the overall customer experience. The brief called for an architectural strategy capable of redefining the brand while integrating a complex mix of complementary uses.
Located within the recently opened Town Center Mall in Riyadh, the project is organised around the concept of “Adventure Island”, structuring the space into four interconnected worlds: Forest, Caves, Water and Camp. Our intervention focused on the Forest, conceived as the social and operational heart of the project, where the café, reception, party rooms and creative spaces come together.
Here, architecture becomes the main storytelling tool. Structural elements are transformed into trees that rise into a canopy of vertical timber slats, filtering light while defining the space. Natural materials and warm tones reinforce the immersive atmosphere, creating a playful environment without compromising clarity or orientation. The café becomes a central anchor, visually connected to the playground, allowing parents to remain engaged throughout the customer journey.
Geometry is used with intention. Simple volumes establish a clear architectural language aligned with the brand identity, while a restrained material palette allows colour to guide movement, highlight key destinations and reinforce the retail experience.
Every element is carefully designed to balance experience with operational efficiency. Flexible spaces, integrated solutions and carefully crafted details ensure adaptability and long-term performance. Developed by Landete+Ramos together with Berkshire Design, more than a playground, the project becomes a cohesive architectural environment designed to be explored, shared and remembered.
